Statistics & Demographics
The jail facility was built in 1997 as part of the West Baton Rouge Parish Law Enforcement Center in Port Allen, Louisiana. The facility was constructed to house 330 inmates, 297 males, and 33 females. The facility has been self-sufficient since its inception and utilizes an 80-acre garden to help defray costs of feeding the inmates. The Detention Center handles approximately 3,400 bookings in a single calendar year.

Non-denominational religious programs: the jail provides 24 hours per day, 7 days per week access to inmates by clergy and counsel by arrangement

The West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center provides for incarceration of persons in pre-trial or post-trial status, federal detainees and Louisiana Department of Correction detainees, as well.
